7 Things to Bring to Your Newborn Session (That You Didn’t Know You’d Need!)
You’ve booked your newborn photography session with Jennifer Ubinas Photography—yay! Now the question is: what should you bring with you?
We provide everything needed for your baby (props, wraps, outfits, and more), but there are still a few unexpected essentials that will make your session smoother, calmer, and more enjoyable—for both baby and parents.
Here are 7 things you didn’t know you’d need for your newborn session in South Florida (but you’ll be so glad you brought!).

1. 🔄 A Spare Shirt for You
Between feedings, snuggles, and diaper changes, it’s common for parents to have a little wardrobe mishap during a session.Bring a clean backup shirt, especially if you plan to be in photos!
Pro Tip: Neutrals like ivory, soft gray, or beige photograph best and keep the focus on baby.
2. 🍼 Extra Bottles (Even If You’re Breastfeeding)
Newborns get hungry more often than expected during sessions—especially when being gently moved and wrapped. If you’re nursing, consider pumping a little beforehand to have a backup bottle on hand for easy feeding.
It helps keep the session flowing peacefully.
3. 🧸 A Favorite Pacifier (If Baby Uses One)
Even if your baby doesn’t use a pacifier regularly, it can help soothe them during transitions or posing. We always take a baby-led approach and never force—but some gentle comfort between shots goes a long way.
4. 🧦 Something Cozy for Siblings
If older siblings are joining your newborn session in Coral Springs, Parkland, or Coconut Creek, bring a cozy outfit, snacks, and maybe a toy to keep them content while they wait their turn.
We recommend:
Neutral clothes without logos or patterns
Easy-to-remove shoes
Bribery snacks (we get it!)
5. 💤 A Light Blanket or Swaddle From Home
We provide a curated collection of wraps and swaddles, but having something with baby’s scent from home can help them feel secure and settled.
It’s also lovely for incorporating personal touches.
6. 🧻 Wipes, Diapers, and… a Change for You
Yes, we have a stocked changing station at the studio—but it never hurts to have your go-to diaper brand or sensitive wipes in your own bag.
Also? If your baby has an accident during a parent shot (totally normal), having a second outfit for you is just smart.
7. 🧘 Your Patience and Trust
We know—you just had a baby. You're tired, healing, and your little one is still adjusting to the world. So the biggest thing you can bring is your trust in the process.
At Jennifer Ubinas Photography, we’re trained in newborn safety, baby-led posing, and stress-free flow. You can sit back, sip coffee, and watch your baby’s first portraits come to life.
